Meet the Nurse Practitioner

MaKenzie LaRose, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, AGACNP-BC

I’m a small town girl, raised in Altenburg, MO. I have been a nurse practitioner for the past four years working with cardio-thoracic and vascular surgery patients and have also had the honor to care for our Veterans of the surrounding community on a part-time basis. I am a Double Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I was previously a RN for 4 years working in both cardiac and emergency care.

I pride myself on personally connecting with each patient in order to create an intimate, intentional experience. I want to get to know you personally and want you to feel comfortable and confident in asking any question you may have.

All consultations and services at Reviving Wellness are provided directly by me. I am overseen by a collaborating physician.

Why these services you ask?

When I was a nurse, I worked a stint in the emergency department. I did not like the concept that patients would come in really sick and all we would do was put a Band-Aid on them and send them home fast. I did not like the fact that some patients were so chronically ill. It was then that I decided that my ideal job would be in wellness care and preventative medicine.

Hormones specifically have become my new passion as I have slowly watched both of my parents age. My mom has been dealing with menopausal symptoms for years and I am determined to help other women not have to suffer like she has. I have also seen my dad be turned away from TRT because of Testosterone levels that “aren’t low enough to treat”. He has had “Low T” symptoms for years which is unfortunate. All men deserve to have optimal Testosterone levels. Why live in a 50-60 year old body feeling 50, 60, or older when you could feel 30 again with on hormone replacement therapy? It’s just silly.

My ultimate goal for this practice is to make it to where patients can come in here, address the issues they have going on and really getting to the root cause of the symptom. I want to focus on prevention of chronic illness and slowing the signs of aging. Don’t get me wrong, I love my heart, lung, and vascular patients! However, so many of these patients’ conditions are PREVENTABLE! I really have a passion for the prevention of heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Ironically, both of these conditions that I am very familiar with can actually be prevented by utilizing hormone replacement if optimized early enough.

I feel that most people are unaware of the benefits that hormones offer. Some people and or providers are actually fearful to take or prescribe hormones, which drives my passion for this particular service line even further. I want to be a part of the paradigm shift. I also want to be the change in empowering patient’s to be in control of their health whether that be with hormone and vitamin optimization or weight management.

One of my most valued mentors always tells me, “I want to empower you to work at the top of your license as a nurse practitioner”. I am going to do just that! There is no reason why I can’t provide these services for my patients, right here in Southeast Missouri.

I can’t wait to meet you and get you back to the best version of yourself!

My Philosophy.

Each and every one of us was meant for more in many areas of life, your health deserves to be a priority. It is my goal to empower you to take ownership of just that.

Fun Facts.

  • I’m usually the tallest female in the room. My dad is 7 foot—yes I played both basketball and volleyball :)

  • I am a ranch fanatic and a candy connoisseur

  • I love small towns, but my heart holds a special place for New York

My patients.

Each patient is important to me. I treat my patients like family and want to ensure their health goals are reached and questions are answered to the best of my ability. Most importantly, I strive for convenience and I want my patients to feel heard in a non-judgmental environment.
